On Lookout for Newer Bus

The Bus Society is on the lookout for a newer, larger bus to replace the current 1996 Hino model. Listed below are our requirements.

If you have any referrals or suggestions for where we can source a newer, larger school bus please contact Sally.

Future bus requirements:

60 seats for primary children
Bench seating if possible
Seat belts not required
8 to 10 metres long. Want to fit as many kids as possible in smallest possible size bus.
Ideally under 150k mileage
Preferably not manufactured in China

Welcome on board Debbie Courtney

You’ll have seen a new face at the wheel of the Pukekohe East School bus. Debbie Courtney is our new bus driver and has a wealth of experience driving buses, 16 years to be exact. Her family business specialises in motorhome upholstery and seating and Debbie owns a 9-metre motorhome, the same length as the school bus. Recently Debbie and her husband moved to a 10-acre property on Tuhimata Rd. Debbie’s grandson Ashton Cook is in Totara class.

We’re still on the lookout for another driver to job-share with Debbie.

Good Sorts Stardom for Judy

Friday was Judy Shutt’s last day driving the Pukekohe East School bus and the afternoon bus run was anything but ordinary. Seated on board the decorated bus was ONE News reporter Hadyn Jones who filmed Judy and her kids’ last ride together for his Good Sorts show. The clip will air on Sunday 7th July during ONE News at 6.

Thanks to Jenny Walter who nominated Judy for the Good Sorts slot and coordinated the filming, and to Jenni Harrison who created the terrific banner for the back of the bus.

Next Bus Society Meeting

The next Bus Society meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 30th July at 7.15pm at the school. All parents are welcome to attend the meeting to learn how the bus operates and to get involved in fundraising efforts.

We have a new treasurer, Lara Utatao, mother of Isla and Cleo in The Oaks. Welcome Lara.

SCHOOL BUS DRIVER NEEDED
For Pukekohe East School Bus
Job-share. Easy hours. Friendly kids.

Pukekohe East School is seeking a part-time bus driver to job-share with another driver. The lucky person will need to have or get the appropriate licences.

Bus driver hours are Monday to Friday during term time, from 8am to 9am in the morning, and in the afternoon from 3pm to 4pm, plus occasional day excursions. This is a job-share position; one driver might choose to work mornings and the other in the afternoons, or they might work alternate days.
