The Pukekohe East School bus is looking for a new full-time driver to start next year. Bus Society Chairman Niko Kloeten says that bus driving experience and a current Passenger Endorsement Licence is preferred, but the Society is willing to pay for training for the right candidate.

“This is not an ordinary bus driving job. It’s about more than going round the bus route twice a day; you become a part of the school and the wider Pukekohe East community,” he says.

“It takes skill and patience to drive some of these rural roads, but the kids will put a smile on your face.”

The role is for school terms only and that there are additional school trips during the day. Extra charters are available on evenings and weekends if wanted.

Current driver Wallace Bremner, who is stepping down at the end of the year to pursue other interests, says the job is challenging and hugely rewarding.
