Bus Society: Term 4 Update (2025)

Hope you are all enjoying school holidays. Here’s our update from the Bus Society for Term 4!

📢Reminder: new Bush Road bus stop location

Just a friendly reminder that the original Bush Road/Tuhimata Road bus stop location has moved approx 50m along Bush Road (where the Total Span bus shelter is) as discussed with Auckland Council and our families using this bus stop.

📢Christmas raffle: call for donations

Our third and final fundraiser for the year is the Christmas raffle. We will be asking school families to bring a Christmas-themed item or treat such as chocolate, wine etc in lieu of a gold coin donation for a Casual Dress Day in Term 4 (casual dress day date to be confirmed) but if you have anything else you’d like to donate or have ideas for prizes, please contact us: admin@pukekoheeastschoolbus.org

📢Call for Fundraising/Advertising manager

Our amazing fundraising/advertising manager Ronnie will be finishing up at the end of this term as Mila heads off to intermediate! We will miss her! We would love to have a new fundraising/advertising manager join the Bus Society during term 4 so we can help with any handover. If you’re interested or would like to know more info, please reach out to Karla (chairperson): admin@pukekoheeastschoolbus.org

📢Back-up bus driver

Towards the end of last-term, Angely and our back-up bus driver James Williams have been running the bus for Stuart so he can have more breaks throughout the term. We will aim to do this at least once a month this term and during next year (and also to cover Stuart when he is on holiday this term: 13-15 October). Any questions or comments feel free to reach out to Angely on Whatsapp.

📢Reminder + feedback: Bus Code of Conduct

Just a friendly reminder to sit down with your child(ren) and chat through the bus code of conduct (kid-friendly version is displayed inside the bus, while a detailed version is published online) so we can encourage a positive and safe environment for our children and Stuart.

Note we are updating the code of conduct for 2026 so feel free to email us any changes/suggestions: admin@pukekoheeastschoolbus.org

📢Important dates

Every term, we host a Bus Society committee meeting that school families are more than welcome to attend and learn more about bus operations, fundraising and grants status etc.! Dates are below.

📅20th October – venue is at school

📅Casual Dress Day – date TBC

The bus will be operating as per the normal bus timetable for Term 4 starting Monday 6 October 2025.

Looking forward to catching up with our students and families at school!

If you have any questions etc., please don’t hesitate to contact us!

Bogan Bingo was a rocking success

Thanks to everyone who came along with their red and black flannel shirts, wigs, real mullets and rock tees to help us fundraise bogan style on Saturday night!

We had a hall full of rockers for drinks, dinner, musical bingo and some epic raffles and silent auctions!

Congrats to all the winners on the night. All in all, we are chuffed to raise close to $4,000! Every $ goes towards keeping the school bus running (since 1946 in fact!) so a huge thank you to everyone especially in a tough economic environment and ongoing cost of living pressures.

Many thanks also to our sponsors, supporters and wider community (the full list is below).

And another massive thank you to our bus society team members for putting on the event and to our driver for driving guests in our ‘party’ bus (all are volunteers and families of the school – so we couldn’t do this without you all).

Stay tuned for next year’s event as the Bus Society celebrates 80 yrs since launching the first school bus service for our school!

Urgent | no bus morning of Tues 10 June 2025

As per Whatsapp, we had a look at the bus late afternoon/this evening – while it is starting up fine, we have decided to take the bus to the workshop just to be checked out further.

So for the morning (Tues 10 June), please make arrangements to take your children to school (please use Whatsapp if you need help). Note at 8.15am/8.20am, there will be a few parents cars at Pukekohe Rugby Club carpark so if you want to drop your child(ren) off there, just post on Whatsapp so we know numbers.

For the afternoon – I’ll post on Whatsapp/send an email at 1.30pm on whether the bus can go ahead or not.  Please have a plan B for school pickup just in case (again post on Whatsapp if you need help).
